NDOT has reached a milestone. They have achieved 50 percent completion of construction of the USA Parkway extension, that will connect Interstate 80 and U.S. 50 in Storey and Lyon counties. Since construction began last summer, nearly two million cubic yards of earth and rock have been moved, to carve the future roadway alignment, enough earth to cover 100 football fields about 10 feet deep. Nearly all of the earth is being compacted to form the roadway shoulders and base.   More than four miles of the future roadway has also been paved. Construction will continue through the end of the year,  with roadway excavation and paving between the Storey-Lyon County line and U.S. 50.
