Nevada has its first ever African-American assembly speaker. He is Jason Frierson, a democrat from District 8 in Las Vegas. Frierson calls it an historic moment that sends a message that Nevada embraces all who are committed to serving. Both the Senate and the Assembly are led by black lawmakers.
