Police caught a Reno man Thursday who kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and then drove off when police tried to approach. 27 year old Michael Shenkel, was booked into the Washoe County jail on several charges, including kidnapping, being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, domestic battery and eluding a peace officer. Police got a call about 9:30 a.m. about a woman being held by an armed man in a vehicle at South Virginia Street and Kietzke Lane. Police found the vehicle, but the driver took off. As police pursued, Shenkel tossed two guns out the window. They overtook him on the 4900 block of Mill Street. Police then learned the victim was his ex-girlfriend, she had minor injuries.
