Weekly Wages Are on The Rise

Weekly wages in Nevada are growing, and the Department of Employment and Training, says that reflects an improved labor market in the state. In the third quarter of last year workers earned an average of $950 dollars a week, that’s more than a ten percent gain over the same period in 2015. DETR Economist Jeremy Hayes says some of the increase may be because workers got earlier “End of year” bonuses. He says the longer term view is that wages are trending up slightly over two percent per year. Even with rising wages, employers are still calling for more skilled workers to fill open positions.
