An upbeat Mayor Geno Martini says the state of the city of Sparks is good, and getting even better. He says the downtown area is being revitalized, and is becoming an even greater place, to live, work and play. The Mayor is excited about the conversion of a now closed Victorian Square Movie theater, and reminded critics that the 1.5 million the city will kick in to help create the luxury theater is from hotel taxes, not the general fund, and he says it’s vital to do. Mayor Martini says the city continues to look for more inefficiencies, is bringing more 190 more residential units into the downtown core, and touted the energy efficiency efforts at public facilities, and better cooperation among local law enforcement agencies, and the community outreach made by police chief Brian Allen.
