Suspect arrested in connection with toddler death

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has named a suspect in the death of a two-year-old girl. They say 26 year old Eric Buhl was already in their custody after being arrested in connection with the discovery of a live pipe bomb found at the home where 2 year old Coahuyana Hernandez had been found unresponsive last Friday. Crews treated the child and took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

During the search of the home Friday evening, detectives located a pipe bomb in the bedroom of Buhl. When he was confronted about it, he told the detectives the bomb was live. The Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad was dispatched to the area to deactivate the explosive in the early morning hours Saturday. Buhl was taken into custody and charged with Felony Possession of an Explosive Device and Child Endangerment. His bail was set at $5,000.

Late Saturday, Buhl, was named as a suspect in the death of Hernandez. His bail has been increased to $250,000. The investigation is ongoing. Autopsy results have not yet been released.
