Democrats have rejected an open primary bill, promoted by Republican James Settlemeyer. His bill, SB 103 would have created a primary in which the top two vote getters, regardless of party, advance to the general election, and the primary would be open to all registered voters, regardless of affiliation. Currently in Nevada each of the two major parties have primaries, leaving about 28% of voters, who aren’t members, out of the process. Apparently there will be no vote scheduled for the bill.
