Whooping Cough in Carson City

Carson City Health & Human Services says there’s a outbreak of pertussis, also known as whooping cough in the Carson City and Douglas County areas. Whooping cough is a serious respiratory infection with several symptoms including runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, mild cough, and infants could exhibit pauses in their breathing.  If you have these symptoms, contact your doctor. From 2000 to 2014, 277 people across the US have died from whooping cough.
