While all the snow has been a boon to ski resorts, it’s a headache for firefighters. Fire hydrants are buried in the snow, and when there’s a house fire, they can’t spare the ten minutes or more it takes to locate them and dig them out. North Lake Tahoe Fire is hoping people will step up and help them dig them out before there’s an emergency. They’re asking people to “Adopt” a hydrant near them, and take responsibility for keeping it accessible.
