Meningitis Vaccine Now Required For All Seventh Graders

Under a new requirement by the State, the meningitis vaccine will be required for all Nevada 7th-graders and new students entering school in grades 7-12. The requirement takes effect beginning July 1st, in time for the 2017-18 school year. Registered Nurse Jennifer Crane, assistant director of Student Health Services for the Washoe County School District, says Meningitis is an extremely serious illness that can lead to death in as little as 48 hours and it’s vital that our children are protected.
