Self-driving Pacificas have hit the streets in Lake Tahoe. Waymo, a company that’s testing autonomous driving systems with cameras and LiDAR by creating 3D images of the car’s surroundings, have been putting the system through the snowy conditions around the lake, and collecting data. Waymo has already tested the system in dust storms, heavy rain, and even extreme heat conditions, and are now trying to perfect the sensors, so the car recognizes road way obstacles under the snow and ice.
