Habitual Criminal Gets 20 Years in Prison in Washoe District Court

In Washoe County, habitual criminals are getting the book thrown at them. The latest is a Reno man who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison as a habitual offender, ensuring he will serve at least eight years before being eligible for parole. 45-year-old Jaffar Richardson was sentenced on one count of Trafficking of a Controlled Substance in Washoe District Court by the Judge Janet Berry. District Attorney Chris Hicks says Richardson has a criminal history that spans more than 25 years and includes seven felony convictions for drug trafficking, drug possession, DUI, conspiracy to commit robbery and firearm charges.
