Hearings on Doctor Assisted Suicide Moved to Wednesday April 12

The latest debate over physician assisted suicide has been re-scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the state legislature. In the meantime opponents are preparing to push back. People like Dr. Brian Calister says this is not as simple as proponents make it seem. For one thing the law as currently written makes doctors lie about it.  Dr. Callister says on KOH’s Dan Mason Show in Oregon, where this is popular, some of the listed causes of death for physician assisted suicide have been listed as “Speculative, absent or as a benign or uncertain neoplasm, chronic respiratory or cardiac disease or even diabetes.” Dr Callister says when you put down an incorrect cause of death, you may be committing Medicare fraud. He also says he’s concerned this will lead to people being pressured to end their lives early.
