Reno Woman Sentenced to Life in Prison For Second Degree Murder

A Reno woman has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a man to death. 41-year-old Victoria Sweeting pleaded guilty and was sentenced on one count of Second Degree Murder. She was arrested January 6, 2016 after Reno Police were called to a report of a fight at a downtown Reno motel. Witnesses identified the victim as Michael Joseacuna Banquicio, and police say Sweeting stabbed him in the back and shoulder after an argument. Sweeting will have to serve at least 18 years before she is eligible for parole.
