Lyon County is actively preparing for a high spring and summer runoff on the Carson and Walker Rivers. Today Lyon County leaders are hosting a table top exercise to address responding to and recovering from various flooding scenarios. A tabletop exercise is an activity in which key personnel assigned emergency management roles and responsibilities, gather to discuss, in a non-threatening environment, various simulated emergency situations. This exercise is being facilitated by the Nevada Division of Emergency Management. Also County Manager Jeff Page has directed personnel to meet with property owners on the Walker River to ensure they understand that flooding may occur and provide them with information to obtain sand and sandbags. He has also authorized purchase of an additional 60,000 sandbags.
