Adam Laxalt has made ending a backlog of untested “Rape Kits” a mission. He’s gotten funding for the effort, and is now proposing setting a limit on getting the kits tested at 180 days. But he’s getting pushback from democrats who want only to mandate that kits get sent to laboratories, without a time limit. They say that could save 750 thousand dollars a year. Meanwhile as of mid March, 64 hundred kits are untested at the states two crime labs and police evidence vaults in Clark County.
