Vandals Ruin Traner Pool in Reno, Closed Til 2018

The Traner Pool is closed indefinitely because of vandalism. The pool was hit March 16th by someone who stole electrical and plumbing equipment, and then destroyed the pool boiler. Estimated costs for repairs are somewhere between $240,000 and $350,000, so the city has decided to keep it shuttered until summer of 2018. That will give the city plenty of time to get the repairs completed, and the pool back open next year. If you want to go swimming, the city suggests the Idlewild Pool, which opens in June, or the Northwest Pool, which is open now.
