Washoe County Sheriff Chuck Allen requested an outside review of the county jail after the Reno Gazette-Journal launched its probe into an uptick in inmate deaths and suicides. Allen says he demands his staff treat everyone inside and outside of the jail with “fairness, equality, and respect.” He tells KOH more people are going to jail impaired on a variety of illegal and legal drugs, which cause some inmates to get out of control.
