Ash Canyon Road Won’t be Reopening Anytime Soon

The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department says Ash Canyon Road will likely remain closed for the rest of this year because of the potential for landslides, and some of the roadway has been washed out, thanks to the heavy rain this season. You can still drive on the first two miles of Ash Canyon after the pavement ends, but a gate is being installed right after that, which will cut off visitors beyond that point. Once it’s put in, it’ll be locked beginning sometime this month. The Nevada Department of Wildlife will relocate their summer fishing clinics from Hobart Reservoir to other areas because of the closure.
