The city of Reno will consider using “blight” funds to fix the vandalism that forced the closure of Traner Pool for the summer of 2017. Mayor Hillary Schieve confirmed the idea to KOLO 8 News, but it’s not on any upcoming council agenda. Damage to the facility included stolen electrical and plumbing equipment, and the pool boiler was destroyed. The city says the initial cost estimate to make repairs to the pool and replace damaged equipment is between $240,000 and $350,000. Traner Pool, normally operational for 12 weeks during the summer, will most likely not be able to open at all for the 2017 summer season.
