New Poll Says Reno Residents Want Billboard Ban

A new Public Policy Polling survey finds Reno residents want the City Council to enforce the city’s ban on the construction of new billboards, with decisive majorities concerned that billboards hurt the city’s aesthetic appeal, highway safety, and property values. 78% of voters agree that the City Council should enforce the ban, which was passed by a majority of voters in 2000, while 15% disagree. This coalition of support is bipartisan and diverse, with 75 % of Republicans and 80% of Democrats agreeing.  83% say it’s a traffic safety issue, and 74% say they concerned new billboards decrease the value of their homes and properties in the city.  70% either “Strongly agree” or “Somewhat agree” that digital billboards make Reno a less attractive place. The PPP survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 %.
