Water Releases From Tahoe, Warnings Along the Truckee River

The National Weather Service is expanding a flood advisory downstream from Tahoe along the river, to include Truckee and the Reno/Sparks area. They are not expecting widespread flooding impacts but the advisory is being mainly done as a public awareness tool – that the river is going to be running fast, full, and cold through the upcoming weekend. Best advice they can give the public is to keep a safe distance from the water. The bike path along the river downstream of Tahoe and in Reno/Sparks will continue to be impacted in places. Sparks Fire Department would like to remind everyone to use caution when around the Truckee River. Proper personal protection gear should be used if you are going to be around the river.  Water is being released to ease pressure at Lake Tahoe which is near capacity.
