Sparks police have issued a “Phone Scam Alert.” They says they’re receiving an increase in phone scam complaints. Some common phone scams are people who claim to be with the IRS, Trust Banking and Sweepstakes. These scammers may engage in small talk. They may also threaten arrest by police if you don’t send them money. This is not a legitimate practice. DO NOT send money. DO NOT send a money order. Once you determine the call is a scam, hang up and report the scam. They asking you to share this information with family, friends and neighbors. If you’ve been victimized notify your credit card company or bank.
