The Nevada Independent is reporting, the state legislature has the secret recording of a meeting between Attorney General Adam Laxalt, and an affidavit from AJ Burnett, the Gaming Control Board Chairman who recorded it. Ways and Means committee chair Maggie Carlton has described the information as “Unsettling and worth a hearing.” Burnett secretly taped Laxalt last year after the attorney general insisted on meeting him outside the office, and allegedly pressured the board to intervene in a civil dispute Casino Mogul Sheldon Adelson was having with a former employee. Burnett was so taken aback by the urgency of the request for an unprecedented intervention to help a licensee that he recorded the conversation out of an abundance of caution. Adelson is reportedly Laxalt’s biggest campaign donor. When the tape might be released isn’t clear. Adelson settled the suit for a reported 75 million dollars.
