The Washoe County School Board of Trustees voted Tuesday on how to close a $10 million deficit in the 2017-2018 budget. The board was faced with a couple of options: increase class sizes, or ask individual schools to cut spending by three percent. In the end, the board voted 5-2 to increase class sizes. School Board President Angie taylor says making the decision was “painful.” Trustees had until June 8 to make a final decision, but according to Taylor it was important to not put off the inevitable.
