Bill Changes How to Determine if Someone is Driving Under the Influence of Marijuana

A bill that removes reference to a specific amount of marijuana metabolites, to determine whether to prosecute someone for driving under the influence of marijuana, has passed the assembly 34-4, and is now in the hands of the state senate.  There was concern that the current standard could lead to people who merely show signs of previous marijuana use, but aren’t actually under the influence, being prosecuted. Instead blood and urine tests would look for the presence of THC, the psychoactive compound that would indicate someone is actually under the influence.
