Mormon Church Backing Away From Boy Scouts of America

The Mormon Church is pulling away from the Boy Scouts of America. The church is the biggest sponsor of scouting in the country, but has announced that members between the ages of 14 and 18 will no longer participate, that could be as many as 180 thousand older teenagers. The church plans to create it’s own programs. Church leaders have been troubled about changes in BSA policy allowing gay scoutmasters, and other moral issues. Mormons working toward the designation of “Eagle Scout” can continue to participate for now.
