(KOH) – Nevada 5th graders can get a golden ticket to all state parks beginning July 1, and they can take their family for free! On Friday, Governor Brian Sandoval signed AB 385 which allows the Division of State Parks to issue a free annual pass to Nevada 5th graders. The program is similar to a federal program which gives 4th graders an annual pass to National Parks. State Parks Administrator Eric Johnson says the Nevada program is easier because they will mail park passes while the national passes must be picked up in person, /after/ the student passes a parks test. Bill sponsor Assemblyman Steve Yeager says the passes allow everyone in the vehicle to enter the park for free. The pass does not cover camping, boat launch, or special event fees. Legislative analysts say providing the free admission will have no fiscal effect.
