Governor Brian Sandoval Signs High School CPR Bill

Governor Brian Sandoval has signed Assembly Bill 85 . It requires all Nevada students to receive instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of an a defibrillator before graduating from high school. The American Heart Association says sudden cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death, with nearly 326,200 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests each year in the U.S. Rick Cassaza with the American Heart Association says they’re pleased to see this important bill become a law. Nevada now joins 36 other states in the U.S. that have passed legislation ensuring all students are trained in basic CPR prior to high school graduation.
