Conversion Therapy Ban Bill Signed By Governor Sandoval

Governor Brian Sandoval signed Senate Bill 201, which bans the use of so called “Conversion therapy”  on minors. Senate Bill 201 was sponsored by State Senator David Parks who says Nevada has a long record of passing  legislation to protect the LGBTQ community with bipartisan support, and he thanks Governor Sandoval for signing this critical legislation to protect LGBTQ youth. Banning conversion therapy makes Nevada a safer place for children who are at a higher risk for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and even suicide. He calls the law a major step forward in building a more equal and inclusive state. Conversion therapyclaims to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. It is opposed by mainstream mental health practitioners and organizations. Nevada is the seventh state to pass a law banning the practice.
