One of the key reforms of the 2015 legislature is at risk. Sparks democrat Skip Daly is a sponsor of AB 396, it would wipe away a ban pushed by Michael Roberson, on legislators accepting free food and drinks from lobbyists. The bill would allow legislators to accept 20 dollars a day in food and 10 dollars a day in gift from one source, and as columnist Jane Anne Morrison points out in the Las Vegas Review Journal, accepting food and gifts from several sources in one day could really add up. Morrison asks is it simply impossible to meet with a lobbyist, discuss an issue and pay your own way? The bill was unanimously approved in the Assembly and faces a Senate deadline tonight.
