What’s It Like to Drive Drunk or High?

(KOH) – 330 people died in traffic crashes in Nevada last year. Although that’s down from a high of 432 ten years ago, the goal in Nevada is *Zero* fatalities. NDOT and the Office of Traffic Safety sponsor the Annual Nevada Traffic Safety Summit, Tuesday thru Tuesday at the Grand Sierra. The summit brings together transportation agencies, law enforcement and other safety partners to discuss the latest traffic safety trends and strategies to save lives on Nevada roads. They’re inviting you to attend a free community traffic safety event, where you can:

  • Drive a test course while wearing goggles that simulate a marijuana high,
  • Drive the DUI cart which is rigged to emulate your slower reactions when drunk,
  • Or have your child seat checked for proper installment by a certified technician.

It’s on Tuesday in the GSR parking lot between 5 and 7pm. Come on out – it’ll open your eyes!
