All Students in Washoe County Will Get The Same Lunch

School board trustees reaffirmed Tuesday that students with overdue lunch accounts won’t be given a lunch different from other students. Trustees rejected giving unpaid students 25-cent cheese sandwiches for several reasons. They don’t want kids who can’t afford a lunch to be singled out and they’re concerned without a proper meal, kids won’t have the nutrition needed to be attentive students. More lunch bills are going unpaid at the Washoe County School District this year than previous years. Last year’s unpaid balance was $29,000, while this year is already at $60,000.
