Someone smoking in a garage appears to have led to a fire that destroyed a house in Fernley and displaced a family of six. According to officials with the North Lyon County Protection District the fire was reported about 3:30 Tuesday Afternoon. Flames started in a garage, where it appears someone had abandoned a smoldering cigarette. It quickly spread to the second floor. One dog was killed in the fire; no other injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
