Education Savings Accounts Discussed Monday at The Legislature

The Legislature held their first public hearing on Education Savings Accounts in over two years yesterday. The future now seems uncertain for the program that would provide public assistance for private school tuition, textbooks, uniforms, tutors and other costs. The hearing lasted three hours. Republicans argued fully implementing the program could help families of meager means afford to move their children from a public school to a private or specialized education program. Democrats argued public accountability cannot adequately follow public dollars if they’re spent at private institutions.
