Johannes Habtemicael, of Reno, was sentenced to two to ten years in prison for exploitation of an older person, a category “B” felony. He was convicted of converting 88 thousand dollars entrusted to him as his father’s guardian for personal use. The fraudulent acts were committed between August 2014 and November 2015. Besides the prison sentence he has been ordered to pay back the theft. Attorney General Adam Laxalt says the tough sentence sends a message that abuses committed against our elderly will not be tolerated and will be aggressively pursued and prosecuted.
