The Washoe County’s Health District says cases of syphilis are on the rise, especially for men in their 20’s.  Syphilis cases have steadily increased since 2013, and many people who have it don’t even know they’ve been infected.  If you’re sexually active, and have more than one partner, WCHD says you should get screened. Symptoms can show up anywhere from 10 to 90 days after being exposed, and can only be treated effectively with a specific type of antibiotic.
