A Carson City District judge has has ruled that alcohol distributors can be the only recreational marijuana distributors in the State of Nevada. Judge James Wilson is siding with independent alcohol distributors in their case against the Nevada Department of Taxation. The state Taxation Department is now barred from issuing marijuana distribution licenses to anyone other than licensed liquor dealers. Judge Wilson had temporarily halted all licensing after a newly formed group of alcohol wholesalers sued, asserting they have exclusive rights to pot distribution licenses under the measure approved by voters last November. The state wanted to get recreational marijuana sales going July 1st, by allowing medical distributors to do it.
