Update: Firefighters Make Good Progress on Hunter Creek Fire

The Hunter Creek Fire west of Reno is now 35% contained , it’s an estimated 240 acres, according to Truckee Meadows Fire Chief Charlie Moore. The fire broke out about 1:45 pm June 22, it’s burning in grass and sage, in a rugged area west of Caughlin Ranch. Firefighters are hitting it hard from the air.  The fire is not threatening homes, and Chief Moore says they are not concerned that it will. The plan is to attack the fire with helicopters and then get hand crews in to build lines around it.
