A bill co-authored by Senator Dean Heller has been signed into law. The Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act is designed to bring accountability to the Department of Veterans Affairs by expediting the firing process for poorly performing employees, and ensuring appropriate protections for whistleblowers. Heller says this legislation is the product of strong bipartisanship in Congress. It incentivizes managers to address poor performance and misconduct among, prohibits bonuses for employees who have been found guilty of wrongdoing; and prohibits relocation expenses to employees who abuse the system.
