They keep warning about the dangers of the Truckee River, but many people refuse to listen. Reno Firefighters have pulled 38 people from the river so far this year.  That’s a record breaking pace. Last year it was 17 at this time. Four people have lost their lives in the river between Verdi and Mustang. Search and Rescue experts say only experts or those with an expert guide should attempt kayaking or rafting on the Truckee, and should be well equipped for any emergencies, with life preservers, wetsuits, helmets and other safety gear.
