The Nevada Department of Transportation has started a new project on 395 in the North Valleys, installing wrong way driver detection systems on the on ramps from the California stateline down to Oddie.
We’re the first in the Silver State to get the new system. The way it works is when a driver enters the freeway the wrong direction, flashing lights go off to warn them they’re driving the wrong way. If they’re impaired, and continue on their way, the detection system sends a message to NHP, so they can respond.
The new system should be operational by early next year.
