Shooting Restrictions Imposed Over Fire Dangers

Due to the risk of wildfires, the Carson Ranger District will be instituting a temporary shooting restriction. This restriction will go into effect on Friday, June 30, and remain in effect until Saturday, Sept. 30 or until conditions change. The Carson Ranger District encompasses over 400,000 acres on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in the states of Nevada and California. District Ranger Irene Davidson says this temporary shooting restriction will prohibit people who are not hunting from discharging firearms on the Carson Ranger District. She add fire conditions are at a dangerous level as evidenced by the recent rash of shooting-related fires.
