A fire in east Sparks that broke out this afternoon (July 3)  is growing. Firefighters are doing battle near Belmar Drive and Earthstone Drive, off Los Altos Parkway east of Vista Boulevard. Golden Eagle Park is northeast of the fire area.  Sierra Front says the fire is estimated to be in excess of 200 acres. The Bureau of Land Management is also on scene. Events at Golden Eagle Regional Park are canceled while the battle with the fire continues.
