Crews Around Northern Nevada Busy Fighting Wildfires

The Nevada Department of Transportation is reporting that I-80 is back open in both directions from Patrick to Wadsworth after a fire started in east Sparks and spread wildly to the interstate, shutting it down. The incident commander says the Earthstone Fire is estimated to be between 8000 and 10,000 acres with 20% containment. Evacuation orders were ended for a handful of homes in the area, but Golden Eagle Park is closed to the public until further notice.
Evacuations orders have been lifted for the Duffy Road-area of northeast Fernley as the Truckee fire continues to grow between Wadsworth and Nixon. The Duffy Road-area has isolated homes and a handful of businesses. The Truckee Fire was reported around 6 O’clock Monday morning and has burned an estimated 18,000 acres with 15% containment.
The Bureau of Land Management is fighting a fire in Limerick Canyon, about 15 miles northeast of Lovelock. Firefighters think the fire has burned about 2,000 acres so far. BLM has dispatched air and ground resources to the scene, and urges residents to remain clear of the area as to not hinder wildland firefighting vehicles traveling to and from the fire.
