Las Vegas Sun: A Million Dollars in Taxes on Pot Sales

In just the first four days of legal recreational marijuana sales, a million dollars in taxes have been generated on more than three million dollars in sales. That’s according to the Nevada Dispensary Association Director Riana Durrett, reported in the Las Vegas Sun. The start of sales was marked by long lines at dispensaries in Reno and Las Vegas, and several dispensaries are reporting shortage of product including edible forms of marijuana. The tax on recreational pot ranges from 33-38%. Nevada is on a pace to get the 30 million in projected revenue over the next sixth months.
