Illegal fireworks use is responsible for a fire that burned a shed and a large open field late Tuesday night. The fire started just after 11 p.m. July 4th near River Ranch Road and Highway 50, behind the Pioneer Crossing Casino. Fire officials with the North Lyon County Fire Protection District say this fire was caused by someone playing with fireworks and are urging the public to stop using them. They say local fire departments across the area are strapped for resources, while they battle several large wildland fires.
