Multiple Wildfires Burning Around Northern Nevada

Winnemucca Ranch

A mobile home and two buildings have reportedly burned in the Winnemucca Ranch Fire in Palomino Valley. Residents in the Amy and Hucksberry Road area were urged to evacuate to the evacuation center at the Ironwood Equestrian Center on Whiskey Springs Road. Firefighters say fire is spreading rapidly. The Evacuation area ranges from the intersection of Amy Road and Ironwood Road to the northern mountain range and south to the volunteer fire station on Whiskey Road. Residents are encouraged to evacuate both private properties and animals to support fire suppression efforts. The evacuation center for Winnemucca Ranch Fire is located at the Ironwood Events Center, 5600 Whiskey Springs Rd.
Truckee Fire

BLM reports the wildfire that started north of Wadsworth, The Truckee Fire, has burned an estimated 70,000 acres, or about 109 square miles. BLM says the fire is about 35% contained. Flames are burning into Churchill County. About ten homes in the Duffy Road area of Churchill County were evacuated as a precaution, and while those orders have been lifted, residents are being asked to stay away if possible.

Earthstone

Nevada Highway Patrol temporarily closed I-80 westbound from Wadsworth to USA Parkway because of the fire encroaching I-80, but it has since been reopened. The 26,785 acre Earthstone fire is now threatening as many as 20 structures. Some residents were urged to evacuate late Wednesday from the Olinghouse-Hooterville area, about two miles north of Wadsworth. The evacuation center is at Silverland Middle School in Fernley, 1100 Jasmine Lane. On a positive note, Golden Eagle Regional Park has re-opened for sports events, but not for hiking and other uses. Fire bosses are claiming 40% containment on the Earthstone Fire.

Ft. Churchill

Firefighters have made good progress on a wildfire burning in Central Lyon County. The apparently lightning-sparked Ft. Churchill fire, which was first reported around 5 Wednesday afternoon, has burned about 200 acres. Fire bosses are claiming 95% Containment.
