The Farad fire is burning along I-80, on the California side of the state line. Sierra Front says the fire is across the interstate from Mystic, between Verdi and Floriston. Cal Fire, which says the fire has burned about 600 acres, is helping the US Forest Service with the firefight. The fire is about 5% contained.
The Draw Fire, burning about 50 miles east of Fallon, has now burned more that 21,000 acres. The Nevada Department of Transportation says the fire has closed part of US 50 from Eastgate to Austin and traffic is being rerouted to SR 722. official containment still stands at 10%. Officials with BLM say evacuations are in place in Alpine and the fire is threatening critical infrastructure. High-energy transmission lines and poles servicing northern California and and western Nevada have been damaged. Officials are providing structure protection for homes in the area of the fire.
The Earthstone Fire in Sparks is surrounded. That fire has blackened more than 41 thousand acres, or 65 square miles . The fire is believed to be human caused with two persons of interest being sought for questioning.
The BLM has declared the Truckee Fire, 100% contained. The fire that broke out July 3rd north of Wadsworth burned an estimated 98,960 acres. The cause of the fire is not known.
A fire in Limerick Canyon, about 15 miles northeast of Lovelock, is now 97% contained. It has burned 14,598 acres, or about 23 square miles. BLM dispatched air and ground resources to the scene, and urges residents to remain clear of the area as to not hinder wildland firefighting vehicles traveling to and from the fire. There is no word on a cause of the fire that started the evening of July 3rd.
