A career criminal who turned violent after escaping federal custody and fleeing to Nevada has been brought back to justice, thanks to the Department of Motor Vehicles. 64 year old Robert Frederick Nelson escaped from a Minnesota federal prison in 1992. he’s been committing crimes in Nevada ever since, but now back in federal custody following his arrest by investigators from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles’ Compliance Enforcement Division. Nelson tried to apply for a renewal of his Nevada ID card last month . Investigators withheld the card after the DMV’s facial recognition system showed something someone with the same face had an ID under a different name. DMV’s Kevin Malone says Nelson was arrested June 20 at a DMV office in Las Vegas on a variety of charges.
